Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. Memorial Day Weekend 2014: Salute to Marines and Sailors

In our parish with many active duty and retired Marines, this Memorial Weekend is always special, always quiet, and always remembered. A special note to COL John Snopes, USMC, a purple heart and survivor of Iwo Jimo. John went in on the first wave, lasted ten days as a machine gunner, took a hit, survived and--then--served 30 years. He's our Senior Usher. Also Gunny "Dutch." We sang this last week and we'll be singing it again weekend.

What an honor to worship with Marines and Sailors. A salute to all Marines and Sailors past and present (Army and Air Force implied).

A salute to those of the past and present. For those today, serving afar, aloft, submerged, ashore, at sea, on the deserts or in the mountains. Lest we Forget.
